In a recent 3-2-1 blog, Jim Clear shared: “Different meanings can be assigned to the same events. Look for evidence of how the world is encouraging you, and you will find it. Look for evidence of how the world is burdening you, and you will find it. Choose an explanation that empowers you.”
While we cannot control much of our circumstances, we can control how we view them and how we respond. As a contractor at a client, I found it helpful to take this approach. I remember a time when the client wanted to choose Option 4 when we had suggested Options 1-3. After fulfilling our moral duty to point out the pitfalls of Option 4, we did our best to help them be successful with Option 4. And it was. We let the question be, “How can we help?” not “My way or the highway.”
As it turns out 10 years later, they have engaged with us again to implement one of the options we had originally recommended. We are happy to help.
