Feeling at your Zoom capacity? Feel like the line between work and personal life has disappeared? Feel a little like your life has turned into the plot line from the Groundhog’s Day movie? You are not alone!
So, let’s first give ourselves a pat on the back. As consultants, we are making this quarantine situation work, projects are moving forward, customers are being served, all thanks to your agility and commitment. But, we’re not done yet so it’s important to build a serious focus on self-care into our routines to stay strong for the long haul.
Check out the linked article for some fresh advice on working from home, still, and some we’ve already shared. We especially like the following:
- Create a Home-to-Work ‘Commute’ – Build in time for the mental transition between home and work. “Maybe take a walk, or read a chapter of a book, or do some yoga. Whatever it is, think of it as your transition time into working, the same as a commute would be.” Same goes for the end of the day.
- Have a Clock-Out Time – It can be tempting to work around the clock but that can lead to burn-out over time. Know when to stop.
- Schedule “You” Time – Establish “healthy ways to comfort yourself, set priorities, stay connected, and create structure”
What will you do to make sure you are mentally and physically ready for the challenges still ahead?
