Do you like troubleshooting and solving escalated-level support issues? If so, Smart Solutions is searching for an experienced Desktop Support Technician III for a 6 month contract position in Ramsey, MN— this could be the opportunity for you! The person chosen for this contract position will augment our partner’s exceptional Technical Support Team. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure successful daily user operations by responding to incidents
  • Troubleshooting desktop/device issues, performing diagnostic testing and resolving desktop inquiries
  • Accurately document support issues, activities and/or resolutions and communicate user feedback to managers and IT team members
  • Monitor system changes, understand impact to end users and perform hardware and/or software installations and updates to desktop and/or laptop computers
  • Maintains standard software configurations, including troubleshooting, loading and configuring software images, supported applications and drivers
  • Provides IT desktop/services support for projects involving technical rollouts, office moves, upgrades
  • Provides after hour, weekend, and holiday work for outages, emergency situations and/or moves as required
  • Facilitate accurate record keeping by documenting support issues and/or resolutions and communicating user feedback to managers and IT team members
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT procedures by identifying opportunities for improvement, sharing best practices and updating documentation as necessary
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

Requirements:

  • 2+ recent years’ experience in a helpdesk, desktop support, or internal service desk position
  • Effectively and efficiently present logic, reasoning, and analysis to others
  • Follow established guidelines to focus on details and complete tasks attentively and thoroughly
  • Communicate, both verbal and written information in a clear, well-organized, and professional manner
  • Understand the needs and goals of a customer and actively look for ways to meet them
  • Assume a methodical approach to evaluate situations
  • Monitor system performance and quickly identify issues, malfunctions, inconsistencies and errors
  • Demonstrated interest in enhancing knowledge; seeks opportunities to learn and grow
  • Keep logs, records and files up-to-date and readily accessible
  • Have respect for coworkers, colleagues and customers
  • Monitor accomplishment of assigned tasks
  • Communicate information in user-friendly format
  • Professional, polished, poised and positive demeanor
  • Utilize high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience in Information Technology and customer service
  • Knowledge of general computer troubleshooting and desktop support
  • Basic knowledge of life-cycle software application development including requirements, design, installation, testing, implementation, operations, maintenance and sustainment
  • Terminology, function and fundamental capabilities of common computer, software, information and communication technology devices, components, and concepts
